Automated Irrigation Systems

This is a 6000 foot Irrigation system designed and installed at Millstone Farm, CT by Davies Steel Design. The farm needed a way to conserve water and water at the heart of the crop instead of using sprinklers. The system has a 4 foot head, is filtered with a 200 micron filter (industrial grade) and is both simple and effective in design, allowing the most technically challenged farm hand to carry out programming and maintenance.

Each of the 29 beds have Electronic timers allowing 4 different watering sessions per 24 hour period. This now saves the farm 22 labor hours per week, a huge saving for any organic farm.

Each of the 29 beds can be isolated when work needs to be carried out on the beds. The drip tape delivers a constant drip exactly where the crop requires for the reccomended amount of time. Cheap, easy and hassle free. This full system would cost around $8,000 installed with a maintenance and winterising contract.

An internal irrigation system can also be added at extra cost, turn a valve and it waters itself. The image shown retails for $ 795, installed. It was quoted and delivered within 10 days. Iron railings
These are a bespoke design and were built to meet the customer's specification. Produced from the finest material and treated with 3 coats of primer and two coats color of your choice. Gloss, Satin or Flat. Fixed in place with wedge anchors, these are built to last and endure high traffic.

These were a bespoke design for a Gothic style property. Cast iron finials finish them off, with solid steel frames. Painted with 4 coats of durable paint.

Special Purpose Farm Machinery

I was approached by a local farm that had a problem with thier trailer overturning on steep slopes whilst carrying the spraying tank, at that time they were hand spraying using a gun which is extremely labor intensive, they asked for my help. I worked with them and designed a completely new system.

This trailer now sits 7 inches from the ground to the axle and lowers the centre of gravity nearly two feet, thanks to a 4 inch drop axle and a cleverly designed trailer. The gross axle weight is 3,500lbs and the trailer structure can withstand 10,000lbs.

The control panel is extremely user friendly. Each arm has a metering and isolation valve allowing complete flexibility of the system.

The arms can be folded down to spray a width of 16 feet, they don't lock down and are suspended with chain.If they strike a foreign object they are allowed to rise up instead of bending or breaking.

The arms can also be raised if only the centre spray system needs to be working for jobs such as driveway washing. The arms fold away and lock into position using locking pins, allowing easy use of the hand spraying system.

Farm trailer
designed and manufactured from the strongest material available, this will last for years. The axle will carry 3,500 lbs and has leaf spring suspension, tied down hooks, dolly and 4 coats of paint.
The owner searched the Internet and found that you cannot buy a trailer of this quality and strength for this price.

The customer specified that the trailer must be able to move rocks around his property. Some rocks exceed 600 pounds. It w as designed and built to withstand the toughest work. You will struggle to break this one!! 3,500lbs capacity with the ability to be used on the highway, with detachable light board.

This Bridge is 24 foot long and 8 foot wide. It complies to building codes and State Laws.
It was designed and built for a customer in Croton on Hudson, NY.
The base is pressure treated timber and the roof and decorative structure are built from the finest clear Cedar, coated with preservative.
